We’ve had the wonderful opportunity to highlight the research and scholarly activity of seven amazing faculty from the Island University! We’re excited to announce that the call for nominations is now open.
Our fall Outstanding Speaker Series will feature the research and scholarship of one of our faculty and the spring celebration will focus on creative activity.
We encourage you to nominate this year’s Outstanding Speaker Series candidates. Self-nominations are welcome.
A panel of volunteers from the Center for Faculty Excellence will review the nominations and select our next speakers.

The Glass in Corpus Christi Bay: Turning Trash into Treasured Art Pieces
In our presentation, participants will discover the amount and weight of sea glass collected along a 150-yard section of shoreline during a one-year study. There will be a brief discussion on nature-deficit disorder and strategies to spend more time interacting with the great outdoors. In addition, participants will be invited and guided to make their own sea glass art piece to take home! No artistic experience is necessary and all materials including sea glass, wood, and glue will be provided. Come join us for what we hope will be an engaging and fun experience learning about environmental pollution and how to reuse/recycle it into a hobby to make treasured art pieces.
