Open Education Week is here again! From March 6-10, 2023, you can take advantage of many opportunities to learn more about open education, open educational resources and open pedagogy. This guide features some suggestions for how you can observe this event, learn more about open education, and connect with others who share your interests.

Multi-Day Events

Open Education Week, launched by Open Education Global, is an annual worldwide celebration that provides an opportunity for sharing and learning about the amazing things happening in open education. Texas Tech University Libraries will be hosting its second Open Education (OE) Week Virtual Conference to celebrate the amazing open education efforts that are happening within Texas Tech University System institutions and South Plains College campuses, and to acknowledge the ways that open education makes an impact on the higher education learning environment.

  • The Connecticut OER Coordinating Council is excited to announce the 4th CT OER Summit, a five-day virtual event for new and experienced OER users. The Summit provides faculty and departmental leadership in Connecticut higher education the opportunity to learn effective practices in OER implementation, collaboration, strategy, and research.

Open Oregon Educational Resources is hosting webinars taking place before and after Open Education Week!

Open Education Week events hosted by Open Oregon Educational Resources, March 6-10

Affordable Learning KY, an initiative of the Council on Postsecondary Education's Kentucky Virtual Library, is planning a series of virtual lunch and learns March 6-10, 2023. All sessions are scheduled to begin at noon ET / 11 am CT.

  • Monday - OER 101 - Learn about the student impact and institutional implications of OER.
  • Tuesday - Faculty Panel on OER-Enabled Pedagogy - Discover how faculty across KY are updating their courses to take advantage of the unique opportunities afforded by OER.
  • Thursday - Connect with Affordable Learning KY - Discuss ongoing efforts to support and expand OER use in Kentucky and how Affordable Learning KY can help you get involved.
  • Friday - OER Train the Trainer - Check out an OER workshop developed by the Open Education Network that can help you make a case for OER on your campus.
