Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS)

Tips for Getting Started with WRDS

1. Use the tabs to navigate the WRDS website. Tutorials are available under the E-Learning tab, and under the Support tab you can find links to manuals and other documentation as well as online support.

2. If you aren't sure which dataset to use, click the "Help me find my data" link. Bear in mind that this tool can potentially direct you to sources we don't subscribe to.

3. All WRDS search forms are in four sections:

  • date range
  • search terms
  • variables to display in search results
  • output format

4. Use the "how does this work" links and the question mark icons to learn more about different variables and operations.

5. Query results from searches you have run are stored for 48 hours and can be accessed via the myWRDS tab. You can also store queries and codes for later use, and these are also found in myWRDS.
