When we're searching in library sources, we can use filters to help identify peer-reviewed sources. When using Google Scholar and other online tools, sometimes it's not so clear. When you find an interesting article, but can't tell if the journal is peer-reviewed, search for the journal in Ulrich's and check the journals status. If it still isn't clear, check with a professor or a librarian.
Your professors want you to cite your articles using APSA (American Political Science Review) style.
For newspaper article, this will look like the following:
Author Last Name, Author's First Name. Year of publication. "Title of Article." Title of Newspaper, day month.
Example:
Cuff, Daniel F. 1985. "Forging a New Shape for Steel." New York Times, 26 May.
Journal articles might look like this:
Author Last Name, Author First Name. Year of Publication. "Title of Article." Journal. Volume Number (Edition): pages.
Example:
