Prompt Engineering

This guide provides a definition of prompt engineering, prompt engineering strategies such as the CLEAR framework and Zero-, One-, and Few-shots prompting, and other topics related to creating effective prompts for Gen AI tools.

What is Prompt Engineering?

prompt is a set of instructions a user creates to direct a generative AI tool's responses, or outputs.

Prompt engineering is a set of skills, strategies, and practices for creating prompts for gen AI tools to generate accurate, relevant content.

Why does it matter? Many gen AI research tools are freemium or cost money, so effective prompts can save you money. More efficient prompts mean using up less free credits or having to pay for repeated prompts.

Watch (or listen to) the above video that explains prompt engineering and why it is important for students to be proficient in this skill.
