What is Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS)?

Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS, pronounced "words") is a data analysis platform which features a variety of data sources. Originally developed for Wharton Business School faculty, WRDS is now marketed to corporations, nonprofits, academic institutions worldwide as a powerful tool for analyzing financial, accounting, banking, marketing, economic and statistical data.

WRDS is intended for advanced quantitative analysis, and can be accessed via a web interface or using the SAS statistical package as well as a variety of other statistical analysis tools.

Accounts

To use WRDS, you must first request an account. The account is approved by our on-campus WRDS administrator.

There are two types of accounts:

1) Faculty / staff / PhD students can request accounts that give full access to both the web and programming interfaces of WRDS.

2) Masters students and class accounts give access only to the web interface. Class accounts expire at the end of the semester for which they are requested.
