Federal Government Documents:Find Documents

Federal Government Documents, Information and Resources

Library Catalog Search

Many of the federal government documents that we have access to, both physically and digitally, can be located using the library's Quick Search box located on the homepage.

If you are looking for a specific item, a Title search is usually most efficient.

If you're browsing a topic, enter your keywords in the box, search, then use the left-hand menu to filter your results. Scroll down to set the location to Federal Document Microfiche, Federal Document, Federal Document CD, Federal Document Maps, or Federal Document Oversized (select as it makes sense for your particular search).

Enter keywords that represent the topic you're researching. If you are interested in a specific government agency, include the name in your keywords.

Using Bell Library's Quick Search

The video below shows you how to conduct a quick search from Bell Library's homepage and how to access the resources you find there.

The sample search primarily focuses on journal articles, but you can similarly limit your search to books or eBooks. Once receiving your results, you can distinguish eBook items from regular print items by noting the "online" tag for eBook titles. For titles we carry in print, you will need to make note of the location of the book and the call number.

Browse the Shelves

The physical collection of government documents is located in the movable Periodicals shelving on the first floor of the library. For assistance, please stop by the circulation desk.

Browse the government document collection in these call number areas. These items are shelved by SuDoc number, not by LC call numbers as in the rest of the library.
