Introduction to Library Resources!

Library Databases are subscription services for specialized information, including content that is inaccessible to the general public, and only available through libraries. Go to the library's website to access these resources, and log in with your IslandID to use remotely.

The following databases are just a selection of the wider set available to you - browse the library's Criminal Justice and related subject database lists from the library's website!

Library Quick Search searches through all the library's vast collections of print and online journals, books, magazines, newspaper articles, and media. The Quick Search also includes content that's normally inaccessible behind paywalls for the general public.

The Quick Search is the top search bar on the library's homepage. Use the search box below to access Quick Search or start at the library's homepage.

This image depicts the portion of the Bell Library's website that contains the Quick Search box.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan is an online service to connect you with items our library doesn't own, are checked out, or in non-circulating collections: If the item you want isn't available from our library, you can order it through interlibrary loan. Articles will be sent directly to you. Books must be picked up at the library. You will be notified by e-mail when your item arrives. It's fast and quick, and best of all, you already have an account - just activate by logging in to Tipasa with your IslandID and password

Typically journal articles are available in electronic format - and come through your interlibrary loan account. Typical delivery time for an online article is 1-3 days. If it is an item in print, it may take a little longer and the item will be delivered to your home address. Typical delivery time for a print item is 4-7 days average. You have 30 days to download your article, otherwise the link will expire and you'll have to send in a new request.

TEXSHARE

What is Texshare?

TexShare is a state-wide consortium of university and public libraries that allows for inter-library borrowing in the state of Texas.

Do you need to get an item urgently, don't have time to wait for Interlibrary Loan, and are willing to drive to another library to get the item you need? Stop by the Bell Library Circulation Desk in-person to pick up a TexShare cardTexShare cards are available for currently-enrolled students and currently-employed faculty and staff, and are valid for one semester.

Take your TexShare card and a photo ID to another TexShare Library and receive borrowing privileges at that library. Patrons are responsible for returning items borrowed from other libraries to that library.
