Access Services includes all the departments in the library that help connect you to library materials: Circulation, Interlibrary Loan, and Document Delivery. Read on to learn more about how we can get you what you need, whether it's from our own collection or from other libraries!
Faculty, staff and students at TAMU-CC can check out materials from our Main, General Media (DVDs), and Juvenile collections. All three of these collections are housed on the 2nd floor of the library.
Circulation policies for faculty:
Is the book you need checked out? Does Bell Library not own it? Want a PDF of an article or book chapter? Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and document delivery can get you what you need. It’s free, fast, and available to all TAMU-CC students, faculty, and staff.
Visit your ILL account to submit and view requests.
You may place any number of requests. Disclaimer: Bell Library ILL reserves the right to prioritize request workflows in an effort to fill all requests within a timely manner.
Bell Library books and DVDs that are permitted to leave the library can be requested in advance.
When you request an item that's listed as “available”, we'll send a staff member to find it, get it ready for you, and hold it at the Bell Library Circulation Desk for up to seven days.
If the item is listed as “not available” or “Out of library”, your name will be added to a list of people who have requested it.
When you’re at the top of the list, and the item becomes available, we'll notify you and you can pick it up at the Circulation Desk. To check where you are in the list visit your library account.
To find and request items
You'll be notified as soon as the book is ready for pick up.
Don’t want to wait in line for an item listed as “not available” or “Out of the library”? We’ll order a copy from another library.
Instead of clicking “Request” choose “Get This From Another Library”. You’ll be taken to our Interlibrary Loan page where you’ll sign in with your IslandID, enter your need by date, and submit the request. We’ll find a library willing to loan it, and you’ll be notified once it arrives at Bell Library.
As a resident of the state of Texas, and a part of the TAMU-CC community, you qualify to receive a TexShare card. This card allows you to check materials out from participating libraries across the state. If you frequently visit other cities, or if you live outside of Corpus Christi, a TexShare card might be useful for you!
TexShare is a project of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
If you are interested in receiving a TexShare card, please visit the Circulation Desk or call 361-825-2340 for more information.
