This guide pulls resources provided by the Mary and Jeff Bell Library, website tools, and tips for performing genealogy research.

Welcome!

Finding Your Roots: Genealogy Research

Conducting research in the field of genealogy requires the use of many different historical and recent materials in the library and elsewhere.  This guide provides a collection of useful tools located throughout the library via databases, journals, print collections, government resources, and Special Collections.  It also provides a basic strategy for research, tips, and a list of other sources of information to help you trace your family tree.

Bell Library librarians are not trained genealogical researchers, but they can assist you in finding materials in and out of the library.

Although comprehensive, this bibliography is by no means an exhaustive list of genealogical sources available.  Rather, it is meant to introduce you to categories of materials and resources.
