Library Resources for Online Students

This guide was created to introduce 100% online students to resources and services available to them at the Mary and Jeff Bell Library.

How to Request Items from TAMU-CC & Beyond

This page covers how to borrow library materials from both the Bell Library and other libraries. We'll also cover how to return (and renew) items you have checked out. In this section, we will review borrowing, requesting, returning and renewing both digital and physical materials. We will also cover the policies for these services.

Home Delivery Service: Distance Learners & Remote Researchers

If you are currently a registered Distance Learner with the Registrar's Office or designated as a Remote Researcher, you can have books from Bell Library’s Main Collection, and borrowed interlibrary loan materials, shipped directly to your home for free. We also supply a prepaid return label for your convenience. Contact us at ill@tamucc.edu if you are unsure of your Home Delivery Status.

Delivery Time: 4-7 days average

Are you a Texas Resident?

TexShare is a state-wide consortium of university and public libraries that allows for inter-library borrowing in the state of Texas.

As a registered Distance Learner or Remote Researcher, you can choose to have a TexShare Card mailed to your home allowing you to check materials from over 1,000 Texas libraries free of charge. You can also stop by the Bell Library Circulation Desk in-person to pick up TexShare Card if you happen to visit campus.

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary loan is an online service to connect you with items our library doesn't own, are checked out, or in non-circulating collections: If the item you want isn't available from our library, you can order it through interlibrary loan and we'll ship it to you once it arrives. It's fast and quick, and best of all, you already have an account - just activate by logging in to Tipasa with your IslandID and password

Typically journal articles are available in electronic format - and come through your interlibrary loan account. Typical delivery time for an online article is 1-3 days. If it is an item in print, it may take a little longer and the item will be delivered to your home address. Typical delivery time for a print item is 4-7 days average.
