Education Research Guide:Videos & Multimedia

From the Monterey Institute for Technology and Education, HippoCampus is a collection of education multimedia content. It is one of many open education resources. Organization is by subject area, including Math, Natural Science, Social Science, and Humanities (religion only). The most content available is in math. A list of learning objectives is available.

Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching, California State University. Excellent site and one of the first of its kind.

“A clearinghouse for accessing video, audio, documents, images, and interactive teaching/learning games … for use across the curriculum and for various grade levels”. Several ways to sort results. Science-related materials are the largest group.

Teaching Channel is a non-profit organization. It is "a video showcase--on the Internet and TV--of innovative and effective teaching practices in America's schools."

A popular free library of over 3,000 videos, about 10 minutes each, covering math, science, and even finance and history.

This Open Educational Resources site was created by ISKME (Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education), a non-profit helping the education community collect and share information through open source technologies. Free, openly licensed educational resources—including activities, assessments, lecture notes, lesson plans, videos, etc.

An open access educational resource covering STEM disciplines—science, technology, engineering, and math funded by the NSF.

National Public Radio's Education Web page. It includes many podcasts.

A series of regular podcasts from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. EdCast offers conversations about issues in the field of education.
Podcasts are 15- to 20-minutes. Finding them is difficult, though. A searchable web page or one with a browse function that goes beyond the chronological would make these podcasts more useful and allow users to more readily find content of interest.
