If you're using SimplyAnalytics data for your report, you need to cite that data to prove that it's trustworthy. To do that, you'll need to cite your data in your report's bibliography or works cited page.
To cite data from SimplyAnalytics, you need to find out where your data is from. With the census data in American Fact Finder, this was easy because all of the data came from the same place. SimplyAnalytics compiles data from lots of different places and vendors, so for every piece of data you use, you have to cite where that data came from.
For this example, we'll look at where the "# Delayed care due to cost" data came from.
When we're looking at our data, we see three vertical dots to the right of the data's title.
When we click that, we see options to use the data variable, add to favorites, or view metadata. "Metadata" means the information about a piece of data. So it will tell us things like who collected this data and when. It's important for us to know where data comes from so we can decide whether or not we trust that source.
So click "View Metadata."
That shows us all of this information:
The information we need to cite is the year and the dataset:
Once you have that information, you can write out the proper citation in APA style.
For our example, that will look like this:
