If the book you need is checked out, you can either place a hold or request that we borrow the book from another library.
In addition, check to see if we own an e-book copy of the title. We own a lot of e-books that can viewed online 24/7! Click on the View E-book link in the catalog record to view the book.
Search the library catalog for the print book you want. Confirm that we a own a copy by looking for the label Held by Bell Library.
Click on title of the book and then click on the Place Hold link under the Access Options section on the right side in the catalog record. Log in with your university username and password and fill out the form. You will be next in line for the book and will be notified via your student email when the book is returned to the library for you to pick up.
If you need the checked out book sooner than when it's due back, you can request that we borrow a print book from another library. The library refers to this process as interlibrary loan (ILL). Here are the steps to place an interlibrary loan request:
On the library website, look for the Borrow and Request dropdown menu, and select Interlibrary Loan.
Log into Interlibrary Loan with your university username and password. If you have never borrowed through ILL before you will have to register to create a free account first.
Under the New Requests section on the left hand menu, select the book option if you would like to borrow the whole book, or the book chapter option if you only need to borrow a chapter from a book.
Enter the book's information into the form.
Enter the date you need this by and hit submit request.
The book will be sent to the library and you will be notified via your student email when it is ready to be picked up! Bring your university ID. You can also request that we contact you via text by choosing this option in our Interlibrary Loan account profile.
